The band is made up of woodwind, brass, and percussionists currently in the OSU Marching Band. Students accepted to the band register for Music 152 or 352 for 1 credit.
The band rehearses Tuesday evenings during Fall, Winter, and Spring terms. Rhythm and Beavs plays for OSU Volleyball games, selected men’s and women’s basketball games, basketball tournament games, and other assigned University events.
The University will provide shirts, the student will be required to provide black trousers, a black belt, and black shoes.
Each student will receive a $660 scholarship for participating in the band. The student must be registered for music 152/352 and must participate in all assigned rehearsals and performances to receive the scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded in increments of $220 per term.
Auditions are held at the beginning of the Fall term. The audition will consist of a prepared piece of 1 to 2 minutes and sight-reading. The prepared piece may be of your choosing and may be a solo, marching, concert, or jazz band work that you are familiar with and comfortable with.
